YOUR DOCTOR

Dr Usman Haq

MBChB · General Practitioner · 15 Years Clinical Experience

Dr Haq brings 15 years of frontline NHS general practice experience to Health3, having worked across busy GP surgeries throughout Glasgow and the wider west of Scotland. He has developed particular expertise in managing complex multi-system conditions, comprehensive annual health reviews, and the intersection of physical and mental wellbeing that defines so much of modern general practice. He is known by patients and colleagues for his thorough, unhurried consultations and his commitment to putting the patient at the centre of every appointment.

One of the most significant advantages of seeing Dr Haq at Health3 is the ability to immediately integrate your consultation with the full range of services available in our clinic. If bloodwork is indicated, it can be arranged the same day. If a skin lesion needs assessment, dermoscopy is available immediately. If a referral is needed, we can expedite it through our established specialist pathways. Everything, in one place, on the same day.

OUR APPROACH TO SEMEN ANALYSIS

20 to 30 minutes. As long as your case actually needs.

Why a 10-minute appointment doesn’t work for many cases.

Getting a GP appointment in Glasgow has become increasingly difficult. NHS wait times for routine appointments across Scotland regularly exceed two weeks, and when you do get seen, appointments are often as short as 10 minutes. For straightforward concerns this works. For anything complex, multi-faceted, or requiring genuine understanding of context, ten minutes is rarely enough. If you have multiple questions, a complex medical history, or simply need to feel heard and understood, the standard slot leaves you walking out with concerns unaddressed.

What 20 to 30 minutes changes about a consultation.

The longer time isn’t a feature for its own sake. It changes the entire nature of the consultation: there’s space for a proper history, for examining multiple concerns, for discussion of treatment options, and for explanation of findings in language you understand. Whether you need an urgent same-day assessment, a thorough general health review, a second opinion on a diagnosis or treatment plan, or simply a doctor who will listen properly, the time is there for it. Extended 45-minute appointments are also available for complex reviews and annual health assessments where 30 minutes wouldn’t be enough.

WHAT AN APPOINTMENT CAN HELP WITH

General practice covers a lot. Dr Haq covers it all.

General practice is exactly that – general. Below are the most common reasons patients book with Dr Haq, but this isn’t an exhaustive list. If your concern doesn’t fit neatly into any category, that’s exactly what general practice is for. The list below covers most of what comes through the door, with extended consultation time available for complex or multi-faceted cases.

01

New or unexplained symptoms.

Any body system, any presentation. Whether it’s a new pain, a persistent feeling something isn’t right, or a symptom that has emerged recently, an appointment is the appropriate first step.

02

Ongoing health conditions requiring review.

Hypertension, diabetes, asthma, thyroid conditions, chronic pain, and other long-term conditions where regular review and adjustment matters. Particularly useful where NHS reviews have been delayed or feel rushed.

03

Second opinions on diagnoses or treatment plans.

Where you’ve received a diagnosis or been recommended a treatment and want a thorough independent assessment before proceeding. No referral required, no awkwardness.

04

Medication reviews and prescriptions.

Comprehensive medication reviews, particularly where multiple medications have accumulated over time. Private prescriptions can be issued where clinically appropriate.

05

Mental health.

Anxiety, depression, burnout, stress. Conditions that often need more than 10 minutes to discuss properly, with referral to specialist services where indicated.

06

Chronic fatigue, sleep problems, unexplained weight changes.

Symptoms that often slip through brief NHS slots because they don’t have an obvious single cause. The longer appointment time genuinely matters here.

07

Digestive health, IBS, and bowel concerns.

Investigations and management of functional gut conditions, with referral to gastroenterology where indicated.

08

Skin conditions.

Rashes, lesions, dermatological assessment. Where dermoscopy is indicated, this is available immediately at the same appointment through our integrated clinic.

09

Men’s and women’s health concerns.

Sexual health questions, hormonal concerns, menopause, fertility considerations, and broader gender-specific health issues. Comfortable, confidential, and unhurried.

10

Referral letters to NHS or private specialists.

Professional referral letters where specialist assessment is required, including fast-track referral pathways for urgent concerns.

11

Sick notes and medical documentation.

Sick notes, fit-to-fly letters, fitness-to-attend assessments, and other formal medical documentation.

12

Pre-travel medical consultations.

Risk assessment and travel health advice for upcoming trips, integrated with our travel vaccinations service where vaccines are required.

13

Comprehensive annual health reviews.

Extended 45-minute appointments for thorough annual health assessment, integrated with bloodwork and other diagnostic tests through our wider clinic services.

Booking practicalities

Same-day booking. No referral. No need to leave your NHS GP.

You don't need to be registered with us as a patient or to leave your existing NHS GP. Many of our patients see Dr Haq privately for specific concerns or extended reviews while remaining registered with their NHS practice for routine care. No referral is required from any other clinician. Same-day appointments are typically available for urgent concerns; routine appointments are usually available within a few days.
